Jocelyn Becker is wondering why someone stole from her organization that helps put pets into permanent homes.
“Shock,” she said. “All I saw was the lock cut on the ground, trailer gone.”
Becker is president of Okie Pet Rescue, located near 116th Street North and Garnett in Owasso. There are still marks in the ground where the foot of the trailer was dragged behind the business.
“It’s pretty hidden,” said Becker. “Someone had to have been over here previously or just driving right on the road out there to see it down the alleyway.”
Becker said the trailer carries a lot of supplies used during pet adoption events. It would take thousands of dollars to replace it all.
“Large crates, puppy pens,” she said. “There were totes of things we had for sale. There was also our tents.”
Becker wants the thief to know her business is about more than just helping animals.
“I can’t tell you how many people have a terminal illness and their family won’t take their pet,” she said. “We step in and take their pet. It’s their dying wish. We help people, too. It’s just devastating.”
The trailer could be easy to spot since it’s labeled with business and sponsors’ names. Becker hopes someone knows something and will come forward.
