YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Linda Barton founded Sweet Memories Vintage Tees and Candy after discovering that several iconic brands originated in the Mahoning Valley.
Barton, who previously operated New Dawn Design Screen Printing in Girard, launched the business in 2023 to celebrate that history through nostalgic merchandise. After learning that Good Humor Ice Cream was founded in Youngstown, she secured the rights to design T-shirts featuring the brand and donated a portion of the proceeds to Akron Children’s Hospital.
The idea grew quickly, leading to more than 100 licensing agreements with companies such as ConAgra for brands like Vlasic Pickles and Slim Jim. Her shop now sells vintage candy, apparel and novelty items tied to historic brands, with portions of the sales benefiting community organizations.
