A new home for the Selah Downtown Association is taking shape in the heart of the city’s historic district, with leaders hoping it becomes a hub for local businesses and community events.
The organization acquired the building March 31. The space is just off Naches Avenue, and leaders say the goal is to create a central location to support local businesses and host more community events.
“It helps them find us, which is great. And we’re right here, eyes and ears. But one of our goals has always been to have a walkable Downtown. We’re making that happen, just having us and some other stores along this same pathway,” said Pattie Graffe, the executive director of Downtown Yakima.
Crews are currently painting and preparing the space. The association plans to move in later this month and start hosting events soon after.
