I’m thrilled to officially announce that Anthony DeMaio has been promoted to global head of sales at Business Insider!
Anthony is a proven sales leader who previously led sales organizations at Bloomberg and The Washington Post. Since joining Business Insider two years ago, he has built strong client partnerships and last year drove nearly 30% year-over-year growth in our financial services vertical.
Over the past two months, Anthony has stepped in to lead the sales organization, and I’m grateful I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with him. For those of you who know Anthony, you know exactly what I learned: he shows up every single day with infectious energy, a positive attitude, and the discipline and grit you would expect from someone who is an ultramarathoner in his spare time (!). He also cares deeply about his team and works diligently to help them succeed. It’s not a surprise that he is respected and beloved by so many people at our company and beyond.
As we continue sharpening our focus on original journalism and deepening relationships with our audience, Anthony will play a key role in translating that momentum into strong, strategic commercial partnerships.
And there’s more good news in our sales org: George Scordo is being promoted to Managing Director of the Finco team! Known for being smart, thoughtful, and cool under pressure, George has been a powerhouse at BI for over six years. He has set the standard with his solutions-oriented approach and last year was our top performing salesperson at BI (which included closing the year with a tremendous Q4, hitting a whopping 287% of goal). I can’t wait for what’s next for the Finco team under his leadership!
