ALEXANDER CITY, Ala. (WSFA) – An investigation is underway after police received multiple complaints of illegal gambling at a local business, according to the Alexander City Police Department.

The Alexander City Police Department, Dadeville Police Department and the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Office worked together Monday to assist the Alabama Attorney General’s Office at a business in the 1400 block of Hillabee Street. Authorities said each agency had received multiple complaints about illegal gambling at the business.

Officers responded while a search warrant was being executed, and investigators found 32 gambling machines and a large sum of money. The machines and money were taken as evidence.

Authorities said they have received numerous complaints of illegal gambling at other locations. Anyone found in possession of these types of devices could face jail time or a fine.

The investigation is ongoing.
