Connecticut businesses in East Hartford, Hartford, West Hartford and Middletown are expected to be getting a boost this year as Comcast will extend its high-speed network into those communities.

The $5.9 million construction project is expected to be completed later this year, according to the company.

Businesses in these four communities will have access to Comcast Business’ full portfolio, according to the company. That includes ethernet and dedicated internet with speeds up to 100 Gigabits per second, advanced voice and collaboration tools, Comcast Business Mobile, and cybersecurity solutions designed to protect distributed work environments, according to a statement from Comcast.

“Comcast Business’ expansion into Hartford is a significant win for our business community,” David Griggs, president and CEO of the MetroHartford Alliance said in a statement. “Reliable, high-speed connectivity is essential for growth, and Comcast’s investment adds another powerful driver of economic opportunity in the heart of Connecticut. This will help local businesses better serve customers, reach new markets, and strengthen the local economy.”

Carolyne Hannan, senior vice president of Comcast’s New England Region said, “from small businesses to large enterprises, organizations in Greater Hartford and Middletown depend on reliable, high-performance connectivity to operate and grow.”

“This investment expands our advanced network and ensures more businesses have access to scalable connectivity, cybersecurity and communications solutions backed by the reliability and local support Comcast is known for,” Hannan said in a statement.

Comcast Business Solutions additions to the four Connecticut communities is to include connectivity, networking, cybersecurity and secure networking, voice, mobility and more, according to the company.

“Reliable, high‑speed Internet is no longer a luxury – it’s a requirement for running and growing a business. From family‑owned shops to new startups, expanded access to advanced connectivity will help our local businesses operate more efficiently, reach customers in new ways, and stay competitive in a rapidly changing marketplace.”
