A 40-year old Delaware favorite is expanding, again.
Helen’s Sausage House has announced plans to open a third location – this time in Sussex County.
The family owned operation, which opened a second site in Newark in 2023, will open a store off of Route 9 west of Lewes in The Vineyards, this fall.
Helen Achenbach founded the original Sausage House in Smyrna in 1983.
Cliff Murphy, Helen’s grandson, is now one of the co-owners of the business, along with Zack Hunter.
“Helen used to take us to the water park right down the road when I was a kid,” Murphy said. “I know she would be proud to see us expanding her legacy.”
“The beach has always been a special place to Helen and all of our family,” said Hunter. “Finding a location that could serve the community year round was important to us.”
