NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — The Nashville Department of Transportation recently implemented time restricted parking changes in Lindsley Avenue where neighbors and businesses say the department is fixing something that wasn’t a problem in the first place.
Lindsley Ave is home to “The Cordelle” event venue, Studio 8 Design architecture firm, an Audi dealership, churches and other businesses, but not much retail meaning there’s not a lot of quick parking turnover.
NDOT implemented a two-hour parking limit on Lindsley Avenue during the day, where there was no limit before.
In February, FOX 17 News’ Johnny Maffei told you about The Cordelle event venue. Owners saying these parking changes are impacting their bottom line and they are concerned about female employee safety. One day after Maffei’s report, Metro Police reported a shooting a street over.
Matt Taylor at Studio 8 Design wants the signs down and he’s frustrated with a lack of communication with the city.
“It’s either going to chase everybody out or it’s going to hurt small business,” Taylor tells FOX 17 News. “It’s gonna hurt this area that is becoming a little more vibrant with some of the redevelopment. We’re going to lose those people.”
Maffei brought the concerns to NDOT. A department spokesperson says he’s working on getting back to us.
NDOT is hosting an online meeting regarding Lindsley Avenue parking Thursday afternoon at 3 p.m.
SoBro isn’t the only neighborhood where both neighbors and visitors are frustrated with changes. Music Row musicians are pushing back. 12 South is seeing changes, too.
