Watch for many stories featuring these rising leaders in the weeks and months ahead.

With thanks to our sponsor MarketBeat, we’re excited to introduce this year’s 30 Under 30.

Samuel Adams

  • Age: 26
  • Role: Realtor, Keller Williams Realty Sioux Falls
  • Hometown: Pierre
  • Education: T.F. Riggs High School; South Dakota State University with bachelor’s degree in physical education

In his own words: “Growing up in a small town, I learned early that your word means everything and that showing up for people matters. I chose real estate because I saw the opportunity to take one of the biggest and often most stressful transactions in someone’s life and turn it into a process that’s enjoyable, memorable and handled the right way. My goal is to help people find homes that truly fit their lifestyle while building equity and long-term opportunity, always putting their best interests first, even when that means walking away from an “easy” sale knowing the property doesn’t match those needs/lifestyles. Also, to positively impact as many lives in the Sioux Falls community as I can through my work, volunteering, mentoring or donating.”

From the nominator: “Sam is the hardest working, most accommodating and determined person I’ve ever met! He sold or helped people buy at least one house a month. He goes above and beyond for all of his customers. … He wants to help the local scene and the little guys. We used Sam as our Realtor when we moved here 3.5 years ago …  and still to this day, I can send Sam a text and say I have a problem with a window, a garage door, a vet question, be my emergency contact for my kids at school, and he comes through immediately every time. He calls anyone he refers us to ahead of time, and anyone we’ve needed for a home repair has been fast and efficient. He has a great network of local people, and I joke that I can text him anything and he will come through. He is like a Magic 8 Ball for us. … Sam truly cares about his clients, and they are not only clients but they become family. He doesn’t just sell you a house — he stays with you forever. He also loves the local scene and companies. He wants Sioux Falls to thrive and wants the little guys to stay in business.”

Brooke Aden

  • Age: 23
  • Role: Digital content coordinator for the Sioux Falls Parks & Recreation Department, city of Sioux Falls
  • Hometown: Sioux Falls
  • Education: Harrisburg High School; University of South Dakota

In her own words: “Success to me in a role like mine is more than a high-engagement rate. I’m just here to bring a little fresh air to your feed and build up a community that loves our local parks as much as I do. I like finding those hidden corners of Sioux Falls parks and trails, the wildlife and the views you might have missed and sharing them here. For me, it’s all about seeing the same tails wag at our dog programs and nurturing this little green corner of the internet together. The investment in the Sioux Falls park system has never been bigger, and I’m thrilled to be the one who gets to tell that story.”

From the nominator: “Brooke Aden has presence. When she started at the city of Sioux Falls in the communications department, she dabbled in graphic design, web and print production. After graduating from the University of South Dakota, she has become the city’s first-ever dedicated digital content creator, dedicated to Parks & Recreation. She has transformed how they serve our community, introducing residents to new parks through social campaigns like Parks Madness or creating content to help residents understand — and laugh — why the pool needs to be closed for cleaning. She uses data to make decisions, is endlessly creative, has built relationships across all levels of the organization and is a trusted voice for Parks & Rec. Her ability to truly understand needs and transform seemingly everyday information into engaging content will take the city far.”

Rosario “Rio” Aguilera

  • Age: 29
  • Role: Senior risk manager, BitGo
  • Hometown: Tea
  • Education: South Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in operations management

In his own words: “I’m fortunate to be building my career in one of the most rapidly evolving industries in the world while gaining this exposure right here in Sioux Falls. Digital assets and blockchain technology are fundamentally reshaping how value is stored, transferred and secured across the globe. Being a part of this transformation, while the regulations and infrastructure are still being written and developed, is both challenging and incredibly rewarding. Working in this space has given me a front-row seat to innovation at scale; we are quite literally changing how the world moves money and defines ownership. Beyond the tech, I’m thankful to work for a company that prioritizes giving back to our community. Being a part of these local efforts has been just as meaningful to me as the work we do every day.

“I believe Sioux Falls has a unique opportunity to continue growing as a forward-thinking and tech-enabled business community. My goal is to connect emerging financial technologies with traditional financial businesses and bring insight from the global digital asset industry back to our local market. I’m proud to represent Sioux Falls while working in a space that is shaping the future of finance.”

From the nominators:

“I have had the privilege of witnessing his exceptional contributions, leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence over the past four years, particularly within our enterprise risk management and business continuity functions. Rio has consistently stepped into roles that were challenging and technically complicated and has really proven himself to be a calm and focused innovator that stands out in a league of older and more experienced peers. Rio currently serves as our senior risk manager and has consistently demonstrated a level of professionalism, ingenuity and drive that sets him apart. He is a critical member of the business continuity and resilience team, and his work directly contributes to achieving certifications and ensuring the technical security of the firm’s data and digital assets. … Rio is a true leader within our organization. He embodies our company’s traits of craftsmanship, accountability and teamwork. Rio is often sought out by colleagues for guidance on complex regulatory frameworks and risk modeling, showing a strong commitment to raising the bar for the entire company. He recently took on training for the Cryptocurrency Security Standards certification, showing the desire to be a leader in cutting-edge cryptographic key management and assisting the company to integrate these frameworks. When faced with complex, ambiguous problems involving conflicting compliance requirements, Rio approaches them with a calm, analytical mindset, always focusing on long-term, scalable solutions that strengthen our control environment. Rio’s combination of outstanding performance, measurable impact on the company’s control and compliance environment and exemplary leadership qualities makes him a standout candidate for the 30 Under 30 recognition. He truly exemplifies the spirit of excellence and ingenuity it celebrates.”

“As the broader crypto industry continues to mature and integrate with traditional financial systems, strong risk management and governance are essential. Rio’s work helps support that evolution — protecting customers, strengthening trust and enabling responsible innovation. Being part of a Sioux Falls-based company contributing to the modernization of the global financial system is both unique and meaningful, and Rio takes that responsibility seriously. Much of Rio’s impact comes from his ability to make risk practical and understandable. He partners directly with business unit leaders to develop business impact analyses, expand business continuity and disaster recovery planning and facilitate tabletop exercises that test preparedness in realistic scenarios. His work supports operational resilience while meeting regulatory and customer expectations. … Beyond day-to-day responsibilities, Rio helps move the risk program forward. He facilitates enterprise risk committees, leads IT risk and RCSA (risk and self-control) assessments, supports new product risk evaluations, assists trust and custody teams and contributes to hiring efforts across risk and internal audit. He is also focused on growing metrics that improve visibility, efficiency and decision-making as the company scales. Outside of his core role, Rio participates in workplace-led community and charitable initiatives multiple times a year. Rio approaches his work with a practical, collaborative mindset and a steady presence. He often leads from behind the scenes, supporting teams and initiatives in ways that have a meaningful and lasting impact.”

  • Age: 29
  • Role: Mortgage banker, Plains Commerce Bank
  • Hometown: Hartford
  • Education: West Central High School; University of Hawaii Hilo; University of South Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in business administration

In her own words: “Becoming a mortgage banker wasn’t on my childhood dream career list, but I’m incredibly grateful for the path that led me to Plains Commerce Bank and the doors that have been opened for personal growth and fulfillment in my role. Building lifelong relationships is one of the most important parts of my life whether I do so by guiding homebuyers through major decisions or hosting B2B mixers that bring local business owners together to spark connection and growth across the Sioux Empire. I approach every personal and professional conversation with confidence and authenticity, creating relationships that feel simple, genuine, honest and human. In 2026, my goals are to help more than 120 families with home financing — creating lasting bonds as their lifetime mortgage advocate — and to continue building strong business connections so I can connect my clients to trusted local partners and further fuel the growth of our community.”

From the nominators:

“Isabella has quickly established herself as a standout lender in Sioux Falls, distinguished by her expertise, integrity and commitment to helping clients achieve homeownership with confidence. She has been nominated for other awards such as Embe’s Young Women of Achievement in 2024. In an industry that demands precision, trust and adaptability, Isabella consistently excels. She demonstrates a deep understanding of mortgage products, market conditions and regulatory requirements while maintaining a client-first approach. Her ability to guide borrowers through complex financial decisions with clarity and care has earned her the respect of both clients and colleagues alike. Isabella’s impact extends beyond individual transactions. She is known for building strong professional relationships, collaborating effectively with real estate partners and contributing to a culture of excellence within her organization. Her proactive mindset, attention to detail and dedication to continuous learning position her as a forward-thinking professional in a constantly evolving market. Equally important is Isabella’s commitment to her community. She actively supports initiatives that promote financial education and responsible homeownership, reinforcing the mortgage industry’s role in strengthening local communities. Isabella Barbee exemplifies the leadership, professionalism and future promise that this recognition celebrates. Her contributions to the mortgage industry and her continued influence in Sioux Falls make her exceptionally deserving of this honor.”

“Isabella has already demonstrated exceptional contributions to her workplace and community, positioning her as a talent to watch in the financial and real estate sectors for years to come. In her professional role, Isabella has risen rapidly through the ranks at Plains Commerce Bank, starting as a temporary employee on the disclosure desk over five years ago and advancing to loan processor before becoming a full mortgage banker. Her dedication has made her one of the top loan officers in South Dakota, ranking No. 9 statewide by production volume in September 2025, according to Modex. Nationally, she has been consistently recognized on the Scotsman Guide Top Originators list since 2018, placing her among the top 25 percent of mortgage professionals in the country. … Her ability to simplify complex processes and build lasting relationships has not only driven impressive loan volumes but also earned her a reputation for excellence in a field where trust is paramount. Beyond her workplace achievements, Isabella is deeply committed to her community. Through the Homes for Heroes program, she earned the Crystal Circle of Giving Award in 2024 for assisting 47 heroes — veterans, firefighters, EMS personnel, law enforcement, teachers and health care professionals — in achieving homeownership. Isabella also actively mentors emerging professionals in the mortgage industry, serving on panels to guide interns and seasoned colleagues alike, and participates in local initiatives that uplift Sioux Falls residents. Her trajectory suggests she will continue to influence the mortgage industry and community positively.”

Paige Berg

  • Age: 27
  • Role: Franchise owner, Primrose School of Sioux Falls at Heather Ridge
  • Hometown: Sioux Falls
  • Education: Harrisburg High School; University of South Dakota

In her own words: “I opened Primrose School of Sioux Falls at Heather Ridge because my husband and I experienced firsthand how challenging it can be to find high-quality child care when my own family needed it most. When long waitlists and limited options stood in the way, I chose to build the kind of school I wished had existed — one rooted in safety, academic excellence and strong character development. Sioux Falls is our home, and I am deeply invested in serving the families and neighbors who make this community so special. As a hands-on owner, I value building genuine relationships and take pride in being present, accessible and personally committed to creating a place where children, families and educators feel truly supported. In our first six months, we have actively supported several local and national organizations through ongoing donation drives and partnerships, including Feeding America, The Salvation Army and REACH Literacy. These efforts have included food drives, winter clothing collections and our current Og’s Bountiful Book Drive, all aimed at meeting tangible needs within our community. These initiatives are not one-time efforts but part of a broader commitment to showing up consistently for the families and organizations around us.”

From the nominators:

“Paige Berg is an exceptional example of the driven, community-focused leaders shaping the future of Sioux Falls. After a successful career as a medical recruiter, Paige took on the challenge of opening and operating the Primrose School of Sioux Falls at Heather Ridge as an on-site franchise owner. In a short period of time, she has built a strong team, established effective operations and cultivated a culture rooted in professionalism, care and excellence. Paige is also deeply committed to the Sioux Falls community.”

“Paige brought a unique and highly transferable skill set from her background recruiting medical professionals nationwide. That experience sharpened her ability to identify talent, build trust quickly and create high-performance teams under pressure. She applied those strengths to early childhood education and built a team that is outperforming established competitors in quality and professionalism. Operationally, Paige’s execution has been strong from day one: Enrollment ramp has exceeded original budget expectations, she has maintained 100 percent staffing aligned to enrollment, and she has achieved zero involuntary departures since opening, which is an impressive indicator of culture and leadership in a difficult labor market. She has also prioritized community integration by partnering with Move U Pediatric Therapists and GreatLIFE Golf & Fitness, bringing family-friendly events to the community, supporting local vendors and organizing food drives that donated 357 pounds of food to Feeding South Dakota. Paige’s future leadership potential is obvious as she is building a scalable, community-connected model that strengthens the child care ecosystem Sioux Falls depends on.”

  • Hometown: Farmington, Minnesota
  • Education: South Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in engineering

In his own words: “I am honored to be recognized as part of the Sioux Falls 30 Under 30 and grateful for the people who helped me get here. I want to thank my colleagues at EAPC for their daily support and encouragement and my former team at G&R Controls/HVAC Elements for introducing me to the building construction industry and setting the foundation for my career. It’s a privilege to help shape our community through sustainable building design and to know the work we do today will have a lasting impact for years to come.

“Growing up in a suburb of the Twin Cities, I never expected to call South Dakota home. That changed when I had the opportunity to compete in track and field at South Dakota State University, and once I crossed into South Dakota, it didn’t take long to see what makes this place special. Sioux Falls quickly became home thanks to an incredible group of friends, my wonderful fiancee, a supportive community and a career I genuinely look forward to every day.”

From the nominator: “Caleb has quickly established himself as a trusted, reliable asset to our team, clients and industry with the ability to provide innovative, effective solutions to our building designs. Despite still being early in his career, he recently earned his Professional Engineer license, a significant milestone in our industry that reflects his dedication and capability. Caleb’s contributions to our team and ‘the built environment’ can be recognized by his thoughtful approach to designing systems and control strategies that improve our clients’ bottom line and reduce their building’s carbon footprint. His contributions have spanned many different project types in our community, each with their own unique design challenges, including but not limited to health care, higher education, civic, public safety, multifamily and commercial. In his previous role as a systems specialist engineer, Caleb programmed and optimized HVAC systems for a wide range of local organizations, including the Sioux Falls School District, Sanford Health, Avera Health, Augustana University and the University of Sioux Falls. He worked closely with facility management and preventative maintenance teams to improve system performance and maximize energy efficiency for both new and existing systems. In addition to his engineering career, Caleb owns and operates Blitz Property Management, which gives him valuable experience in business operations, leadership and responsibility as a sole proprietor. Caleb is a dedicated supporter of the Sioux Falls community and invests intentionally in the next generation. He serves as an SDSU alumni mentor, offering guidance and career insight to engineering students, and volunteers with Junior Achievement at Susan B. Anthony Elementary School. His community involvement also includes supporting SDSU track and field events, participating in the Sioux Falls River Cleanup and volunteering with the Veterans Community Project. Caleb also led an officewide volunteer effort for Brandon’s Rake the Town, helping residents who were unable to complete seasonal yard work. Professionally, Caleb is an active member of the South Dakota Chapter of ASHRAE, where he co-leads the Young Engineers in ASHRAE, or YEA, committee and manages the chapter’s social media content. Tanner Castora

  • Age: 28
  • Role: Self-employed author
  • Hometown: Cleveland
  • Education: Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism

In his own words: “My life began to drastically change in my early 20s when I opened the Bible. If you’re searching for more peace or purpose in your career or life, I’d suggest doing the same. I have two career goals right now: Sell 5,000 copies of my book titled “Stig and the Rise of South Dakota State Football.” I believe anyone who reads it will be better for it. And to one day broadcast March Madness games on national television.”

From the nominator: “After working at the CBS news affiliate KELO for two years as a sports anchor, where he became an Emmy-nominated broadcaster, Tanner began building himself as a freelance/independent journalist and broadcaster. His main project, which he worked on from 2023-2025, conducting well over 150 interviews, was writing the biography of longtime SDSU head football coach John Stiegelmeier. His book titled “Stig and the Rise of South Dakota State Football,” gives deep insight into his personal life, yet also offers a behind-the-scenes look into how the SDSU program grew into a National Champion. Releasing the book on Oct. 10, 2025, Tanner has sold a couple thousand copies as a self-published author. With his book signing tour continuing in 2026 throughout the state of South Dakota, he has reason to believe he can and will sell a few thousand more this year as well. Tanner has also been a mentor with the Lutheran Social Services Youth Mentoring Program in Sioux Falls for 4 1/2 years, working with the same kid that he began the program with.”

In his own words: “I didn’t grow up with a clear career path in mind, but when I had the opportunity to join Interstates, I stepped into a role that allowed me to travel the country implementing manufacturing software and training users of that software. Over time, I moved into software design and now lead developers to build solutions that serve our clients’ evolving needs. While I enjoy the technical challenges of designing software, implementing innovative technologies and unique problem-solving, my primary focus has always been people — earning trust, leading with integrity and continually improving the way we serve both our customers and our community.”

From the nominator: “Aaron DeBoer is an emerging leader who has made an outsized impact in a short period of time. Within the last year, he stepped into a Manufacturing Execution System, or MES, lead role and has quickly become a trusted technical and strategic leader across the organization. In this role, Aaron has helped guide MES strategy, standardization and execution, enabling more reliable, data-driven manufacturing operations. His ability to bridge technical depth with operational needs has improved adoption, alignment and long-term scalability of MES solutions. He contributed to shaping responsible AI usage, balancing innovation with risk management, compliance and ethical considerations — work typically reserved for far more senior leaders. Aaron’s leadership stands out for three reasons. Rapid growth: He assumed complex leadership responsibilities well ahead of typical career timelines. Cross-functional influence: He effectively collaborates with operations, IT, leadership and end users. Forward-thinking mindset: He is helping the organization responsibly adopt emerging technologies like AI. Aaron DeBoer represents the next generation of leaders — technically capable, strategically minded and trusted to influence decisions that shape the future of manufacturing and technology at scale.”

I come from a family of builders and entrepreneurs, and that background has shaped how I approach my work. Watching my father build through Deffenbaugh Homes and helping my parents grow their small family honey business, Deep Creek Honey, taught me early that craftsmanship and stewardship are vital. To keep pushing my own limits, I recently committed to training for the Sioux Falls Half Marathon. Don’t get me wrong, it is hard work, but how do you know what you’re capable of if you don’t do hard things? Above all, being a husband and father is my proudest achievement and what grounds my definition of success.”

From the nominator: “Dillon Deffenbaugh has had tremendous success in his fundraising role at Augustana University and hasn’t even turned 30 yet. … He has a unique ability to work with anyone, which has been foundational to his development success. When Dillon isn’t working in tandem with colleagues to continue raising record-setting sums to benefit South Dakota’s largest private university, he is the proud husband to Mariah and proud dad to Stevie. Family is important to Dillon, and he prioritizes time with them while maintaining a busy work schedule. Additionally, he is a member and regular participant in YPN (Young Professionals Network) and active with his church. Dillon is still early in his career at Augie, but he will continue to climb the ranks and has the potential to become one of the premier fundraising professionals in South Dakota. With a deep respect for diverse perspectives and a desire to learn and collaborate, he is someone to continue to keep an eye on and is an excellent nominee for the 2026 30 Under 30 nomination.”

Jared quickly found a passion for serving others and that has helped him continue to be successful in his role as general manager at the GreatLIFE Avera McKennan Fitness Center in the fall of 2024. Since that time, Jared has been involved in numerous community leadership opportunities, organizing fundraising opportunities and coaching for the GreatLIFE PLAY Everything Foundation, winter clothing and toy drives for the Sioux Falls School District and volunteering in the Avera Race for the Cure. I’m incredibly grateful for this community and everything it has poured into me. My hope is that I can give back to this city in a way that reflects even a fraction of what it has given me. I have a genuine passion for people, and working in development allows me to use my strengths to support my organization’s continued growth and impact. Emily Haberling

  • Age: 25
  • Role: Outreach and enrollment navigator, Community Healthcare Association of the Dakotas
  • Hometown: Pierre
  • Education: T.F. Riggs High School; South Dakota State University

In her own words: “As a professional serving clients in Sioux Falls, I am committed to ensuring that individuals and families across all populations — rural residents, small-business owners, self-employed individuals, immigrant communities, young adults aging off parental coverage and those navigating life transitions — have clear, accurate guidance when it comes to health insurance and public benefit programs. I chose this career because I’ve seen firsthand how confusing systems can create barriers, and I believe access to coverage is foundational to both personal stability and economic mobility. My goal is to deepen partnerships within the Sioux Falls business community to better support diverse workforces, improve health literacy and strengthen long-term outcomes across our region.”

From the nominators:

“Health insurance is confusing and stressful for many people, especially when it’s tied to job loss, health issues or financial uncertainty. What makes Emily stand out is how naturally she builds trust and walks people through the process with patience, empathy and confidence. I’ve seen Emily help countless individuals and families who had no idea where to start or how to accurately complete an application. Through her guidance, many consumers have avoided costly mistakes, qualified for financial assistance they didn’t realize they were eligible for and in many cases saved hundreds of dollars per month on their health insurance. She doesn’t just help people enroll — she helps them feel supported and empowered throughout the process. … One consumer shared: ‘I just had a wonderful time with your employee Emily! She was super-helpful and knowledgeable and made the whole experience of getting covered for health insurance painless. … She is a wonderful part of your organization.’ This kind of feedback is common for Emily. She consistently turns an overwhelming experience into one that feels manageable and human. She takes initiative, handles complex cases with care and is someone both consumers and co-workers trust. Emily understands that access to health insurance is about more than coverage — it’s about stability, dignity and the ability to take care of yourself and your family. She is already making a meaningful impact in Sioux Falls, and I have no doubt she will continue to grow as a leader and advocate in our community.”

“Emily cares about others and spends her days helping individuals from many walks of life get access to affordable health insurance. Emily approaches her work with curiosity, kindness and care. As a short illustration, one individual Emily helped had these things to say: ‘I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the truly outstanding care and support I received from Emily at Falls Community Health. She went above and beyond … while patiently taking time to answer all my questions.’ This past year, our organization received the news that our program would have a reduction of funding due to federal cuts. Emily didn’t miss a beat, even as her role would transition from being one of many individuals providing services throughout the state to being the only full time navigator. She continued to provide help to others while facing significant uncertainty.”

From the nominator: “Gabby is not only smart, inquisitive and curious, hardworking and attentive, she is kind — a good human being. As she grows as an attorney I am always impressed by her willingness to stretch and try things outside of her comfort zone. Gabby enjoys meeting people in the community and learning more about them in smaller settings where she can focus on all they have to share. She is supportive of the charitable work of our firm and believes in service to community. In her own words: “I’m drawn to work that challenges me, encourages collaboration and creates meaningful results. I’ve been shaped by incredible mentors in Sioux Falls, and I’m truly grateful for the impact they’ve had on my growth. I’m excited to continue contributing and staying deeply involved in this community. I love being part of the Sioux Falls community and the way people genuinely invest in one another’s growth. Through EmBe leadership programs, the Augustana MBA mentor program and SME (Sales & Marketing Executives), I’ve experienced that support firsthand. Whether through those organizations or contributing to volunteer opportunities, continuing to give back to the community is something I care deeply about.”

From the nominators:

“Bergen is a young professional who is already delivering an outsized impact while clearly shaping the future of Sioux Falls’ business and community landscape. At Epicosity, she serves as an account executive for high-profile clients, including the South Dakota Department of Health, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, and the University of Memphis. In these roles, Bergen acts as the strategic owner of each account, guiding marketing strategy and aligning internal teams to deliver results. The fact that Bergen is entrusted with these accounts at this stage of her career signals both exceptional capability and leadership potential. In addition to agency work, Bergen applies her marketing expertise at The Playground Indoor Softball Facility, where she leads digital promotion, social media strategy and event marketing while also instructing young athletes. Her work has contributed to increased community engagement and brand visibility, while her coaching role allows her to influence youth development directly, teaching leadership, accountability and teamwork alongside athletic skills. What sets Bergen apart is not only what she has accomplished, but how intentionally she invests her success back into Sioux Falls. She serves on the marketing committee for SME of Sioux Falls, supporting social media growth, reporting and event marketing for one of the region’s most influential professional organizations. … She also volunteers with local nonprofits, including Furniture Mission, Union Gospel Mission and Feeding South Dakota, demonstrating a long-term commitment to service rather than one-time involvement. Bergen’s career trajectory points clearly toward future leadership in Sioux Falls. Having completed her MBA early in her career, she has already moved from execution into strategy and mentorship, including being invited to mentor Augustana MBA students. Her progression reflects a leader who is not only advancing quickly but doing so with intention, integrity and a focus on lifting others as she grows. Bergen has already proven her ability to lead, deliver results and invest in others, and she is just getting started.”

“Bergen is passionate about empowering our athletes — over 200 female athletes ages 8-18 — and building them up through more than softball. She truly cares about each and every person and goes above and beyond in helping everyone. Bergen is always looking to improve herself and her leadership skills. … We are so lucky to have her, and I know she will do big things in any industry/with any company that she is a part of. Sioux Falls is lucky to have her here.”

Her extensive background working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities spans from working as a behavior specialist in a residential community at LifeScape while attending school full time as a nontraditional student and single mother to two young children to now as a special education teacher at the same organization. Promise is an incredible leader in the Sioux Falls Native American community. This past summer, she organized the first powwow at LifeScape since COVID, helping residents and staff connect with Indigenous culture. … The aspiring educator is also not one to rest on her laurels. She has already been accepted into Augustana University’s Master of Science in Applied Behavioral Analysis program to further hone her skills working with folks with IDD (intellectual developmental disability). She believes everyone has a purpose and wants to help others succeed, which is why she’s dedicated her career to helping serve others with IDD. She is now growing her real estate career alongside her professional advancement within the company, showcasing her ability to balance multiple demanding pursuits while maintaining a high standard of excellence. Over the past decade, Rosanna has taken on bold challenges: moving to a new country, mastering a new language and culture, and pursuing higher education and a career in engineering. … Her dedication and can-do attitude inspire colleagues, while her collaborative spirit lifts those around her. Her impact is one of personal achievement, motivating her teammates to show up all-in, think like employee-owners and take initiative, no matter who is watching. Within the Sioux Falls ISG office and transportation team that spans the Midwest, she is trusted, steady and respected. Teammates rely on her for technical insight and willingness to collaborate, share knowledge and support others. She often steps into a mentoring role simply because she sees a need, not because she was asked or assigned. In Sioux Falls, that means working with nonprofits via the Rysdon Foundation to support them financially or with sponsored volunteer hours. In agriculture, it means developing world-class implements and grain storage facilities from a helpful, trustworthy and innovative family company.”

From the nominator: “Max is an accomplished young professional and has proven skill in managing teams and improving business processes here at Sioux Steel. From the nominator: “Rob Schloendorf exemplifies the kind of emerging leader Sioux Falls should be celebrating. In a short period of time, he has made a meaningful impact by stepping into responsibilities well beyond his formal role, helping guide critical engineering and validation efforts during a period of rapid growth and limited resources. His ability to adapt in a highly regulated, technical environment, while bringing others with him, positions him as someone who will contribute not only to his organization’s success but to the strength and credibility of Sioux Falls’ broader manufacturing and engineering community. With his work ethic, commitment to learning and ability to connect technical excellence with people, Rob represents the next generation of business leadership in Sioux Falls.”

Myah Selland

  • Age: 27
  • Role: College and career adviser, Jefferson High School
  • Hometown: Letcher
  • Education: South Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science, and community and public health

In her own words: “After having the privilege of traveling the world as a professional athlete, I’m excited to begin a career focused on making a meaningful difference right here in Sioux Falls. As a college and career adviser at Jefferson High School, I have the incredible opportunity to work with students as they navigate their next steps in life. I’m passionate about empowering young people and creating a more equitable future where everyone feels supported and confident in their potential. Having felt the incredible power of community support myself, I’m eager to give back and help build the same strong sense of connection and opportunity for the next generation. I co-founded a nonprofit organization, Her Turn, in 2022. Our mission is to inspire and enable girls to reach their full potential in life and sport through expanded sporting opportunities. We do this by providing scholarships for young girls to attend overnight summer sport camps. I also coach girls basketball at Jefferson High School and try to stay involved in the empowering opportunities of youth sports.”

From the nominators:

“Myah Selland brings a rare blend of professional dedication, athletic distinction and community leadership to everything she undertakes. As a college and career access adviser at Jefferson High School, she plays a pivotal role in opening doors for students who might otherwise see limited options for their futures. Working closely with first-generation and low-income students, she helps them navigate the often-intimidating processes of applying to college and technical school, completing the FAFSA or exploring military and workforce opportunities. Myah’s work is more than career advising – it is about building pathways to economic mobility and long-term success for families who may not have the resources or experience to guide their students through these steps. By walking alongside students and families, she ensures that postsecondary education and career opportunities feel attainable, not out of reach. Her presence at Jefferson High School has already transformed how students see themselves and their potential, shifting trajectories that will have ripple effects in the Sioux Falls community for years to come. “Her influence also extends into student life through her role as a women’s assistant basketball coach at Jefferson High School, where she mentors young female athletes not just in the fundamentals of the sport but in leadership, perseverance, accountability and teamwork. Drawing on her own journey in athletics, she helps her players see beyond wins and losses, fostering resilience, self-esteem and the conviction that they can set high goals in academics, career or life. She meets her athletes where they are, models a growth mindset and uses sport as a platform to cultivate leadership and character.

“What truly sets Myah apart is her vision and follow-through in co-founding Her Turn, a nonprofit organization she launched while in college with her teammate Tori Nelson. Her Turn offers scholarships to young girls to attend sports campus, covering costs, equipment and transportation so that economic barriers do not block opportunity. In its first few years, Her Turn awarded scholarships to dozens of middle school girls to attend summer basketball, volleyball and soccer camps, giving them exposure to college environments, positive role models and confidence-building experiences. The nonprofit also addresses systemic gaps in girls’ access to sports, working to reduce dropout rates and inequity in athletic opportunity. As a co-founder, Myah has led strategy, fundraising, impact reporting and outreach, even while competing overseas, demonstrating her ability to lead with vision regardless of geography. Her pursuit of a master’s degree in nonprofit management is a clear indicator of her long-term commitment to growing sustainable organizations that empower youth. In every arena – education, athletics, nonprofit leadership – Myah shines. She is not simply doing multiple roles – she links them together with purpose. Her nonprofit provides tangible opportunity; her advising opens doors for underserved students; her coaching nurtures future leaders; and her own academic pursuit in nonprofit management signals she is preparing to make an even greater mark.”

“Myah is an outstanding worker, leader and communicator. In addition to helping students with college/career/military options, she runs a nonprofit called Her Turn, which helps pay summer camp and other fees for girls to be involved in sports who would not otherwise have the opportunity. At JHS, Myah inspires the sub-varsity girls to not only go out for sports but also develop a team-first mindset and leadership skills. Myah was a standout at SDSU and also played professionally overseas and in the WNBA. Myah’s leadership is so valuable to Sioux Falls public schools at a time where girls basketball participation is lower than ever. She is helping to turn that around! As an adviser, Myah meets with hundreds of students and parents throughout the school year helping with FAFSA, scholarships, test prep, college visits, military recruiters and career exploration. She hosts luncheons at school and Saturday opportunities for families to come and get one-on-one help. She’s just fantastic, and I hope we can keep her at Jefferson for a few years!”

Regen Wiederrich

  • Age: 26
  • Role: SDSU Connect coordinator, South Dakota State University
  • Hometown: Sioux Falls
  • Education: Washington High School; South Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies

In his own words: “Being from Sioux Falls, I have always been fascinated with the growth of my hometown. It is exciting to think about what this city will look like in the coming years, and I am grateful to be in a role that brought me back home and gives me a front-row seat to that progress. As a dad, I also feel a growing responsibility to help continue our city’s positive trajectory so that Sioux Falls remains a vibrant community not only for my family but also for the thousands of new residents who call this place home each year.”

From the nominator: “Regen Wiederrich is tackling one of Sioux Falls’ most important long-term challenges by helping build a stronger workforce through higher education. Currently, only 56 percent of Sioux Falls high school graduates enroll in a postsecondary institution, lagging behind peer cities. Regen is addressing this gap early by executing on President Barry Dunn’s vision to ensure every Sioux Falls public school eighth grader visits the SDSU Brookings campus so they can see what it means to be a college student. He coordinates and executes a large-scale program that serves an average of 1,500 students each academic year and more than 4,000 students over the past three years. While the first full cohort of eighth graders will not start college until next year, SDSU has already been seeing increased enrollment from the Sioux Falls area, an early sign of the program’s impact on the region’s talent pipeline. Beyond campus, Regen is an engaged community leader through Sioux Falls Young Professionals Network, Forward Sioux Falls campaign and YPN’s Next Gen retreat. Mature and engaged beyond his years, he is deeply invested in the smart growth of Sioux Falls, workforce development and his alma mater, SDSU.”

Being surrounded by team members who genuinely care about making a difference and leaving their mark on the Sioux Falls community has shaped me immensely– especially the incredible women who built me up, challenged me and helped me find a deeper confidence in myself. I hope to carry that same encouragement forward and keep sprinkling it into the lives of younger professionals I meet who are trying to find their way, just as others once did for me.”

From the nominator: “Bailey is the kind of person who elevates everyone around her. At Click Rain, she is known as a selfless teammate who is always thinking ahead, anticipating needs and supporting both clients and colleagues with unwavering dedication. She exemplifies the very best of leadership, service and integrity, both professionally and personally. Her impact extends beyond her day-to-day responsibilities. She has served on Click Rain’s Atmosphere Team, planning events and volunteer opportunities for the entire company. Bailey plays a huge part in ensuring that a people-first culture remains at the heart of the organization. As a proud University of South Dakota alumni, she stays deeply involved by participating in the Alumni Mentorship Program, speaking to marketing classes and offering her feedback and perspective by engaging in panels for students and faculty. On top of being a valuable asset at Click Rain, Bailey dedicates time to volunteering. She gives back to her community through volunteer work with organizations like Bishop Dudley Hospitality House serving, Sioux Falls Cares and REACH Literacy’s Bee-A-Reader program, to name a few. Bailey’s impact is felt everywhere she goes. Her calm, grounded presence, dedication to service and passion for personal growth make her an outstanding candidate for a 30 Under 30 honor.”
