Two downtown Sioux Falls retailers are recipients of small-business grants to help grow their stores.
Terra Shepherd Boutique & Apothecary, a sustainable lifestyle boutique and zero-waste refillery, and Say Anything Jewelry, known for creating keepsakes featuring loved ones’ handwriting, fingerprints, pet keepsakes and personalized and permanent jewelry, have been selected as recipients of the Backing Small Businesses Enhancement Grant from American Express and Main Street America.
The grant recognizes small businesses that demonstrate resilience, strong local impact and a compelling vision for the future.
The grant will provide Terra Shepherd Boutique at 218 S. Phillips Ave. with $10,000 in funding to expand the product selection in its zero-waste refillery.

“Our bulk-refill products have become everyday essentials for so many of our customers,” owner Sara Jamison said. “It’s such an easy way to decrease plastic waste while saving money on high-quality, nontoxic products. I am thrilled for this opportunity to almost double the number of offerings in our bulk-refill assortment.”

Jamison expects the expanded assortment to be available beginning April 1.
The other grant will provide Say Anything Jewelry with $10,000 in funding to expand its marketing efforts and share its meaningful keepsakes with more people locally and beyond.

“So many people don’t quite know what’s possible when it comes to creating meaningful keepsakes for the people they love. I’d love to help more people discover what we can create for them — whether for gifts, mementos or memorial pieces,” said Stephanie Wilde, owner of the shop at 225 S. Phillips Ave.

Since its inception, Backing Small Businesses has distributed more than $14 million in grants to more than 1,600 small-business owners across the country.

“We are incredibly proud to see two downtown Sioux Falls businesses recognized on a national level,” said Taryn Sietsema, chief development officer of Downtown Sioux Falls Inc. “These grants highlight the innovation and heart behind our local entrepreneurs and reinforce why downtown is such a vibrant place to shop and support small business.”
