NEW BRAUNFELS – New Braunfels is experiencing a surge in development projects, which local businesses hope will translate into increased revenue as the city’s tourism market continues to grow.
April Miller, owner of The Crossing Boutique, expressed optimism about the influx of visitors. “I think with the right amount of advertisement, I like the idea of people coming to the town,” she said.
Among the new developments are the Faust Hotel along Seguin Ave. and the SpringHill Suites along I-35. Other potential sites, such as the NBU building and the former Homestead Inn in Gruene, are also gaining traction.
Miller is hopeful that these projects will bring more customers and revenue to small businesses. “I think that it is going to affect us positively…with the hospitality that we give the outsiders, I think that they will continue to shop and support the local businesses,” she said.
Jonathan Packard, CEO of the New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce, echoed this sentiment, stating, “It is absolutely a positive impact.” He added, “It really as a value add. Having those dollars circulate the economy, and I will add that most hotel guests are taking money around other communities and spending it here.”
The completion of the Faust Hotel, expected in the spring, is one of the most anticipated developments for residents.
