LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Latin Chamber of Commerce announced a new program aimed at expanding opportunities for Latino-owned businesses beyond Southern Nevada as the organization marks its 50th anniversary in 2026.
The program, called LCCUN, stands for Unified Nevada and will connect local entrepreneurs with international partners they may not have had access to before, according to Latin Chamber of Commerce President Peter Guzman.
“We’re taking our members global,” Guzman said. “We have partnerships with all the consulates. We’re going to increase those. And by the way, not just Hispanic consulates. The Japanese consulate called me this morning. They want to be in on this with us. So we’re going to keep expanding this.”
Building international connections
Chamber leaders said the initiative will work both ways, sending Nevada businesses outward while also bringing investments and relationships into Nevada.
“They are also always looking to bring their businesses here to the state of Nevada,” said Iris Jones of the Latin Chamber of Commerce. “So we will be that connection between the consulates, between the international organizations that wants to invest in small businesses in Nevada and their communities.”
The announcement was made at an event at the College of Southern Nevada. Guzman said the location was chosen intentionally, as the chamber’s next chapter is tied to building a pipeline from classrooms to careers and eventually business leadership.
Educational partnerships
CCSD Superintendent Jhone Ebert said partnerships like this matter because students need to see what’s possible after college.
“43% of our students identify as Latino,” Ebert said. “And so when you can make a connection with adults and students see themselves of what they can be, they see what they can be, they can move forward.”
Ebert said the collaboration represents an opportunity to serve a global community.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity for all of us coming together and making sure that we’re not only local Southern Nevada, that we’re not only Nevada, but that we serve a global community and that we’re a global destination,” Ebert said.
Chamber leaders said the initiative will begin rolling out throughout the year.
