WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) -Edward Teach Brewing will close permanently in February after more than eight years in business, the brewery announced.
The brewery said its final day, Feb. 15, will be a celebration with specials and encouraged customers to “come raise a glass with us one last time.”
In its announcement, the brewery thanked customers, staff, and business partners for their support over eight years.
“To every person who walked through our doors, made us your usual spot, or brought friends along, thank you. You gave this place its heartbeat. We also want to thank the amazing accounts, bars, restaurants, bottle shops, and partners who chose to put our beer on their lineups. Your support meant more than we can ever say,” the brewery said on Instagram.
The closure comes after the former owner, Gary Sholar, was arrested and charged with assault and state regulators canceled the brewery’s permits due to unpaid fees.
The brewery said the taproom was closed for several months due to renovations.
