Dozens of businesses in Maine and across New England will be closed on Friday as part of a national protest against recent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement actions in Minneapolis and elsewhere.
ICE was in Maine as recently as last week, and many Portland businesses have shut down for the day as a way of showing their solidarity with immigrant communities. Protests are also planned in Portland, Boston and across the country at 3 p.m.
Organizers are calling for no work, no school and no shopping, and some businesses said they would close their doors as part of the civil action.
Some popular eateries and breweries are among the list of closures.
Here’s a partial list, broken down by state. Do you know of another New England resturant that is closed on Friday as part of the “ICE Out” day of action? Send us an email at boston.web@nbcuni.com and we’ll add it to our list.
