A car crashed into a Kansas City, Kansas, business Thursday morning, sending debris across the block and leaving the storefront boarded up.The crash happened around 9:30 a.m. near Sixth Street and Central Avenue. Security video from across the street at Slaps BBQ captured the violent wreck as a vehicle slammed into Ramos Upholstery.“It was insane to see this this morning,” said Filiberto Ramos, the owner of Ramos Upholstery.Ramos said when he first arrived, he thought the business had been broken into.“Pulling up I just saw debris and chairs. I thought just somebody had just broke in,” he said.Instead, Ramos found a car inside his building.“My first thought was I hope the guy or person that was driving the vehicle was OK,” he said.Police said the driver was the only person in the vehicle and was taken to a hospital. No one was inside the business at the time of the crash.Ramos spent much of the day cleaning up debris that scattered across nearly an entire block. He said business owners in the area have long raised safety concerns.“Speed bumps, there has been a lot of high-speed chases through here,” Ramos said.Some customer furniture was also damaged in the crash.“They were her grandma’s and she’s upset and I don’t blame her,” Ramos said.Despite the damage, Ramos said the business remains open.“We’re open. We’re still doing business. The furniture that got damaged, we’ll take care of it and fix it and make it right,” he said.
