A Montgomery restaurant owner has lost his business license due to nonpayment of taxes.

The Montgomery City Council voted 9-0 Tuesday to revoke Cedric Sanders’ license for his business, “Can a Brotha Get a Slice?” on South Decatur Street.

Representatives from the city said they had arranged a payment plan with Sanders, but say he has not been making payments.

Sanders appeared before the council two weeks ago to address the issue.

The council told him that he must start paying the unpaid taxes or he would lose his license.

Sanders was shot during an altercation at his restaurant in September of 2024.

The state closed his restaurant in November of 2025 saying he had not paid taxes.

Sanders was not present at Tuesday’s council meeting.
