Fire crews are returning to a four-alarm blaze at a pallet business in Juniata County, according to officials. A large fire broke out at Treen Box and Pallet Inc. in the 400 block of Center Road in Walker Township just after 7 p.m. on Tuesday. The fire was contained after about two hours, and no one was hurt. Freezing temperatures made it challenging, deputy chief saysThompsontown Volunteer Fire Company Deputy Chief Jeff Miller said the freezing weather made extinguishing the blaze challenging. “It’s very, very tough to stop a fire of this magnitude,” said Thompsontown Volunteer Fire Company Deputy Chief Jeff Miller. “It’s a rural area, there’s no fire hydrants, so we’re drafting water out of the Juniata River right now.”Miller said the bitterly cold temperatures affected the firefighters and caused fire trucks to freeze up. “Quite honestly, conditions are horrible. We’re looking at about eight degrees right now,” Miller said. “Firemen are frozen stiff. Our tanker trucks that are shuttling water to the scene are freezing up.
