TV Talk: Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson on Fox News

Mayor Eric Johnson says Dallas is emerging as a prime alternative in attracting companies unsettled by political and economic changes in Democratic-led cities.

Johnson told Fox News that New York is becoming “the heartbeat of socialism,” while describing Dallas as a city that embraces law-and-order policies and a pro-business climate.

“We embrace corporations who employ folks and who are actually pillars of our communities,” said Johnson, a Democrat-turned-Republican.

Leaders in other cities say costs, real estate and workforce trends, not politics, drive corporate relocations.

Johnson’s interview Sunday blended economic messaging and partisan critiques, including:

LAW ENFORCEMENT: He said cooperation with law enforcement is essential to public safety and criticized Democratic mayors he said promote rhetoric that undermines policing.

BUSINESS INTEREST: Johnson said he is fielding increased calls from New York-based financial firms, describing a “flood” of interest from companies he said view Dallas as a more stable, pro-capitalism environment.

PARTY POLITICS: Johnson said Democrats risk continued voter losses unless they refocus on public safety, affordability and supply-side housing solutions.
