Covington businesses offering deals as nearby bridge construction ramps up

Some small businesses in Covington are offering customers special deals to keep business up during two major bridge construction projects.Last week, the Fourth Street Bridge connecting Newport and Covington closed for demolition, with a new bridge expected to be constructed as soon as 2028.Work on the Brent Spence Bridge is also expected to ramp up in 2026, with the construction of a new Brent Spence Companion Bridge expected to take significant steps forward.The bridge projects are worrying some business owners who could be faced with less traffic from drivers in the area, due to the impacts of the construction.To help with that, Covington is launching an initiative known as “Bridging the Gap: Small Business Specials,” with the goal of keeping customers coming through the doors with deals and specials.Bars, restaurants and retail shops are participating in the initiative, with a list of deals available throughout the city.
