Thieves smashed through the front door of a South Florida business, stealing thousands of dollars’ worth of clothes and sneakers.
Andrew Sonco, the owner of Sneaker Connects in Margate, said that early Thursday morning, two people broke the glass door, went inside and grabbed expensive shirts and shoes before driving away. Police showed up minutes later.
“I see the whole window was broken,” Sonco said. “I came in and said, what just happened? All my shoes are still here, everything looks the same, but then I looked at my clothing rack, which was filled with tons of inventory, and all of that was taken.”
Surveillance video from a nearby business shows the alleged thieves at the front door. Then glass shatters.
“You can hear the voice say, go, go right away,” Sunco said. “I was just so surprised and stunned.”
Sonco has owned the business for the last several years, and recently, he’s seen similar break-ins at similar businesses across South Florida. NBC6 has covered a few of them.
“I was so upset with everything because this is my pride and joy, and to have things taken from me hurts me because you’re not only taking money from me, you’re taking money from my family,” Sunco said. “I just have to keep running because God gave me another day to live.”
Sonco has a message for the people who broke into his business.
“Find God, because the evil is still out there, and people work hard for this, and taking from a small business, it hurts a lot, so you didn’t affect me personally, you affected my emotionally and physically,” Sonco said.
Margate Police say suspect information is unknown, and the investigation is ongoing with their detectives.
