BULVERDE, TX — Police are after a power-saw wielding thief after a string of break-ins in Bulverde.

The burglar broke into two businesses within hours on Sunday. Surveillance video caught them walking around the Bourbon and Branch bar just before 5 a.m.

“They kind of knew where they were going,” General Manager Tanner Clymer said. “They went directly to the ATM, directly to one of our cash dispensers and directly to our office where they were able to get all the cash from our cash drawers and our safe.”

Another clip shows the moments the burglar used a power saw to get inside.

Tanner is one of the general managers at the bar. He believes the thief got away with thousands of dollars and he doesn’t think it was random.

“They’ve probably been in here [and] scoped it out before,” he said. “We did get reports of like a flash coming from the top of our building about 30 minutes prior to the actual break-in. From what we know now, that was them cutting our fiber-optic cable to our alarm system.”

Staff at Strutty’s pet and feed supply down the road confirmed they were hit too that morning.

Their owner wasn’t available for an interview.

“From my opinion, it seems like this guy’s done it before, but who knows,” Clymer said. “It stinks. It’s very disappointing.”

The bar is a family business, owned by Tanner’s stepfather.

In their four years of operating, they tell me this has never happened before. He says he’s seen more break-ins around the area recently. He’s not sure if they’re connected.

We reached out to Bulverde Police Department for more information about these break-ins and asked them how many there have been; or if investigators believe they’re connected.
