Mayor-Elect Jabbour Names Jennifer Gonzalez As Business Administrator for the City of Hoboken

Hoboken, NJ – Today, Mayor-Elect Emily Jabbour named Jennifer Gonzalez as Business Administrator.

There are few people with the proven track record of effectiveness that Jennifer Gonzalez brings to this role. She understands how city government works, how to get things done, and how to deliver real results for residents. I am excited for Jennifer to hit the ground running as Hoboken’s next Business Administrator and to continue making a positive, measurable impact on our city,” said Mayor-Elect Jabbour.

I’m honored by Mayor Jabbour’s confidence, and grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve the City of Hoboken as Business Administrator,” said Gonzalez. “Hoboken is a city that puts people first, and I’m excited to work with  our dedicated municipal staff and elected officials to deliver excellent services, move critical projects forward, and oversee City operations responsibly, with a strong focus on transparency, sound fiscal management, and quality of life for residents.”

Jennifer Gonzalez brings more than a decade of public-sector leadership to the role of Business Administrator, with a track record of strengthening city operations, delivering major infrastructure projects, and improving quality of life for residents. Since joining the City of Hoboken in 2016, Gonzalez has led efforts to expand access to parks and waterfront spaces, modernize core services, and advance long-term resilience, including authoring the City’s first Climate Action Plan and founding the Department of Climate Action and Innovation. She has overseen divisions ranging from public works and facilities to capital planning, engineering, and the water utility, and was promoted to Assistant Business Administrator in 2025. A Lehigh University graduate with a Master’s degree in Environmental Policy, Gonzalez holds a certificate from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), is a licensed New Jersey Professional Planner, a Certified Floodplain Manager, LEED Green Associate, and currently serves as Hoboken’s Chief Sustainability Officer.
