BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Louisiana is the first to earn the Business Facilities’ Platinum Deal of the Year two years in a row.

The state is being recognized after announcing a $5.8 billion Hyundai Steel Ascension Parish investment last year. In 2024, the recognition was for the $10 billion Meta AI data center investment in North Louisiana.

Read Gov. Jeff Landry’s full statement celebrating the honor below.

“In 2025, Louisiana set a new standard for ourselves. This year, we are setting a new standard for the nation, and that starts with the unprecedented back-to-back Platinum Deal of the Year wins. Louisiana is a force in the industries that power America’s economy. Our workforce, our business climate and our commitment to growth are giving companies every reason to invest here with confidence. Louisiana is rising to meet the moment, and the nation is taking notice.”

Louisiana had a historic year for investment, over $61 billion, agency says

Landry, with President Donald Trump, announced the multi-billion-dollar investment in March 2025. Poll results released in the fall showed that 71% of Ascension and St. James parish voters were in favor of the new plant.

The steel mill will be located on a 1,700-acre site in Donaldsonville at the RiverPlex MegaPark. According to the Louisiana Economic Development, it is expected to generate more than 5,400 jobs for the Capital Region.

Leaders previously announced that construction is expected to start in the third quarter of 2026.
