Saint Albans, W.Va. (WSAZ) – Police have arrested a man they say is linked to several break-ins at businesses in Saint Albans, West Virginia.

Police say David Douglas Steadman, 52, has been charged with grand larceny and the entry of a building other than a dwelling.

On September 22, 2025 at 3 a.m., deputies with the Kanawha County Sheriffs Office responded to an alarm at the ParMar located on MacCorkle Avenue.

When police arrived, they saw the front door had been destroyed to make entry and the business was broken into. Police say, less than $1,000 worth of cigarettes stolen.

Surveillance video captured a single suspect entering the store and committing the theft.

On December 26, 2025, also at 3 a.m., deputies were again dispatched to the same ParMar for an alarm activation. Once again, the front door had been broken to make entry.

Officials say during this incident, two suspects had entered the business, “one acting and moving in a manner consistent with the September break-in.”

In this incident, more than $1,000 worth of cigarettes, vapes, and vape accessories was stolen.

During the investigation, Steadman was identified as a suspect.

After being located and interviewed, Steadman confessed to committing the crime on more than one occasion.

Steadman is currently being held at the Central Regional Jail.
