Japan’s Mercari is putting a new spin on going global in e-commerce, with the likes of Pokemon, Dragon Ball and Funko Pop! front and center.
It’s seeking to become the go-to marketplace for those in search of key entertainment products often associated with Japan, such as manga and anime.
The company announced in September that it plans to roll out a “global Mercari app” in more than 100 countries, so that more people overseas will be able to easily access the Japanese online flea market, which sells a lot of entertainment merchandise.
