A candle display is reportedly responsible for sparking a fire inside a Goleta business early Friday morning, January 2, 2026.
At 1:59 a.m., Santa Barbara County firefighters responded to the 100 block of Aero Camino in Goleta for a report of a structure fire.
When crews arrived they discovered a single story commercial building with smoke and fire inside.
The fire was knocked down at 2:11 a.m. and there were no reported injuries.
The official cause is under investigation, but authorities believe the fire started from a candle display that spread to nearby combustible materials. Authorities remind everyone to never leave candles unattended.
Firefighters remained on the scene for several hours for salvage and overhaul operations.
