Rochester, N.Y. — The focus on local businesses was at the forefront of Small Business Saturday.
Store owners hosting Small Business Saturday events that highlighted the unique importance of small businesses and create a lasting and positive impact on local economies.

“A lot of times you see the same stuff in your big box stores, in our local community stores, you’re getting things made by local folks, you’re getting things brought in from different places, it’s not the same stuff,” said Jennifer Plunkett, the owner of Aaron’s Alley.
The event featured demonstrations, including food tastings, and, of course, various talented local artists and businesses selling their unique items.
More than 36 million independent businesses across the U.S. celebrate the holiday.
