If you’re scouring the internet for holiday gift deals, you’ve come to the right place.
Cyber Monday, which falls on Dec. 1 this year, is right around the corner. Retailers will offer discounts on a variety of items, from electronics to clothes. But just how much saving can consumers expect? And are these deals better than the ones that were offered just days before on Black Friday?
Here’s everything you need to know about the pseudo-holiday.
What is Cyber Monday?
The National Retail Federation coined the term “Cyber Monday” in 2005. USA TODAY reported the federation created the term to describe an uptick in online shopping on the Monday after Thanksgiving. People returned to work and used their offices’ internet, which was then faster than home internet, to start on their holiday lists.
Meanwhile, according to NBC, e-commerce sellers felt left out of the guaranteed revenue boost brick-and-mortar stores received from Black Friday and decided to capitalize on the Thanksgiving weekend sales.
Cyber Monday is historically the most profitable day for e-commerce sales every year, NBC reported.
