CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) – With Small Business Saturday just days away, several Heartland businesses are gearing up for a busy weekend.
Annie Laurie’s in downtown Cape said they have everything stocked, ready to go, and are expecting a big rush.
“We want you to beat the holiday rush and come on in and enjoy small business graciousness, a smaller space, to be able to move around, and we have every kind of item you can imagine,” said Plant Manager Beth Preston.
Preston said they have everything from clothing to records, jewelry and of course, plants.
She encourages shoppers to make their way to not only support them, but other local businesses this weekend.
Preston said they are hoping it will bring a big boost right before the holidays.
“It is incredibly important, both obviously for making good sales on our items, and we have over 100 consigners, so it benefits all of these hard-working people that are picking out all of these items to have here at Annie Laurie’s. That’s the big thing.”
Meanwhile, Pastimes Antiques said they are also excited and ready for customers this weekend.
Manager Kyleigh Baliva said they want to provide unique products for their customers.
While this is their busiest time of year for the shopping season, Baliva shared why it is important to shop local this holiday season.
“Small Business Saturday is very important as far as shopping local. As a family business, we rely on the community to shop local and appreciate everyone who does,” she explained.
Pastimes Antiques will have an open house on Friday, December 5, and a live mannequin window display.
Meanwhile, Annie Laurie’s will be giving away gift bags to the first 25 people who walk through the door.
