CONCORD, N.C. (WBTV) – Three people have been identified in Friday night’s Concord Christmas Tree Lighting shooting.
18-year-old Nasir Ahmad Bostic, 17-year-old Keyvyonn Rayshaund Bostic, and another unnamed juvenile are facing petitions and charges including assault with a deadly weapon and inciting a riot.
Four people were injured in Friday’s shooting including Nasir, the juvenile, and two more 17-year-olds. People were back out Saturday for the city’s Christmas parade.
People came back out to downtown Concord to continue celebrating this community and the upcoming holiday season. So many have said they felt it was important to continue on to bring the community together.
Saturday, the streets of downtown Concord were filled with people welcoming the holiday season at this city’s annual Christmas parade. But less than 24 hours before, people were leaving the area after shots were fired.
One resident, Jodi Wood, says, “Despite yesterday’s incident that happened in our little downtown, we wanted to come here and still celebrate and not have that ruined for us.”
The Atilano family opened Charros Mexican Restaurant less than a year ago. They say they were excited for the holiday season and were a full house on Friday.
Angel Atilano says, “It’s our first year here, so we were expecting a lot of people, we were so happy. You know, everybody was having a good time.”
Friday around 7:30 p.m., Concord police say the shooting happened on Union Street South near the intersection of Corbin Avenue. When the shots were fired the Atilano’s say as many as 200 people came into the restaurant to seek shelter in the kitchen.
Angel says, “My first action was going straight for the door, open the doors for people to come in. And that’s where I heard there were shots.”
Concord’s mayor Bill Dusch says after nearly 100 years of holiday celebrations, city leaders wanted the Christmas parade and events to continue to show people what the city is really about.
He says, “We always try to keep our community first and foremost for us. This is an opportunity for us to see what Concord is about and we’re so happy to have it today, we’re proud of them coming out and cheering us on.”
The Atilano family says they want the holiday tradition to continue on and they look forward to being part of it.
“I can say, Concord is strong. We’re hoping that every body is going to go back to their, it’s gonna be normal again and just have a good time,” says Angel.
Concord police are continuing to ask anyone with additional information to reach out to them.
