With holiday shopping season already in full force, it’s important to remember to support local businesses as well.
While Amazon, Target and other big chain stores will be running deals and discounts during Thanksgiving week, local stores will also need support. Small Business Saturday is your opportunity to make sure the mom and pop shops are able to sustain themselves and some are offering some great deals and discounts, too.
Shopping at a small business stimulates the local economy, helps you make more meaningful and sustainable purchases and helps drive competitiveness and innovation, according to Bentley University.
There are a few locations around the Valley that will be holding Small Business Saturday events. Here’s how you can support local.
Phoenix Flea
Phoenix Flea will hosting its 12th annual Small Business Saturday Market in downtown Phoenix.
“As Arizona’s original Small Business Saturday event, Phoenix Flea offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity to shop small and support more than 125 local businesses and food trucks, all gathered in Heritage Square and Science Park,” their website states.
Phoenix Flea was established in 2013 as a modern market showcasing the best makers, brands and curators from the Southwest.
Some of the vendors include Charlotte Yiu Art, Desert Rat Collective, Earth Cowboy, Hiláli Jewelry, Mama’s Cold Brew, Naked Rebellion, phx.found and Truly Blessed Jewels.

Central Arts Market
There will be an open-air arts market at the Roosevelt Row Apartments, showcasing creative small businesses of all skill levels and crafts.

Uptown Market Phoenix
There’s no better way to support local than by visiting your local farmer’s market which includes a variety of vendors, from food and treats to crafts and home goods.

Downtown PHX Farmers Market
Another market nearby that offers a variety of produce, food, body care, household products, artisan goods, plants and pet supplies is the Downtown PHX Farmers Market, which is held every Saturday.

GenuWine Arizona will be holding a Small Business Saturday Holiday Market where there will be unique gifts, handcrafted items and treats from a variety of vendors.
