WILLIAMSBRIDGE, Bronx (WABC) — Impacted business owners are wondering what comes next after a massive four-alarm fire charred nearly a dozen businesses along East Gun Hill Road in the Williamsbridge section of the Bronx.
The strip of 11 businesses included a deli, a convenience store, a Chinese restaurant, a salon, a laundromat, several storefront churches, a driving school and an insurance agency.
Two firefighters suffered minor injuries in the blaze.
The fire broke out at a store just before 11:55 p.m. Thursday and quickly spread through the cockloft of that building, moving to adjacent businesses.
More than 230 first responders headed to the scene.
Firefighters battled the blaze for hours before bringing it under control just before 2:30 a.m.
Firefighters plan to continue pouring water on hot spots throughout the morning.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
